Replacing a Title in New Jersey
If your vehicle was last titled in New Jersey, the registered owner can request a duplicate title by completing the Duplicate Certificate of Ownership Application.
Once you've filled out the application, you have two options for submitting it:
Option 1: Apply in Person
You can bring the completed form to a New Jersey MVC office.

What If the Vehicle Was Last Titled in Another State?
New Jersey can only issue a duplicate title for vehicles originally titled in the state. If your car was last titled elsewhere, you’ll need to request a duplicate from that state’s motor vehicle department.
